Last Keeper’s Daughter
by Rebecca Trogner
Born into old money, Lily Ayres lives at Waverly, her family’s estate situated at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Paris, Virginia. She is a strange, small, almost mute, young woman who has no idea that her father has given her to the Vampire King Krieger. Walter Ayres is the King’s Keeper and part of a secret society of historians who unearth, preserve, and attempt to understand relics of long forgotten civilizations.
Lily has never felt comfortable in the human world, but after she suspiciously falls down a flight of stone steps, and is healed and claimed by Krieger, she realizes there is another world. In this Other Realm she feels a sense of belonging, and begins to untwine the mysterious event which left her mentally and psychologically damaged. When Walter disappears in England, Lily works with human and supernatural beings to uncover his whereabouts. With each new discovery, she is pulled deeper into the vortex of magic, intrigue, and dark desires that permeates the supernatural world. The revelations revealed unfold a story of deception and betrayal that threaten to tear the thin veil between the supernatural and human world asunder.
EXCERPTS (Exclusive Excerpt):
Her beautiful eyes sparkled with a questioning look, the towel slowly slipping through her fingers to reveal a soft shoulder. Her tongue demurely skirted her bottom lip.
“Lily.” He reached out his hand to her.
Instead of dipping her eyes away from his, she held his gaze and walked the last few steps. Her hand, warm and soft, slipped into his.
“How was your swim?”
Lily blinked, her pupils dilated. “It was tiring, but nice.”
Delicately he laid his hand on her upper chest, and slid it ever so slowly up and around her neck until her face was nestled in his large hand. She sighed and closed her eyes, leaning into his touch. His fangs extended with a snap. Her eyes opened, taking in their sharpness and length.
“Have you missed me?” he asked. He closed the bond, not wanting to overwhelm or frighten her.
“Yes.” She pulled her hand from his and tentatively reached out towards his fangs.
“The tips are the sharpest.” Head tilted slightly back, he waited.
“Does this mean you’re hungry?”
Hungry for everything your body has to give, he wanted to say, but didn’t. Instead he waited while her finger traced over his fangs. “It was impolite for me to drop fang in public with you.” He looked up to see that Liam and guards had formed a tight circle around them.
“Drop fang, that’s what you call it?”
“We do. At the moment, it shows my attraction for you.”
“Oh,” she responded. “For my blood?”
“For your blood.” He leaned in, kissing along her jugular vein up to her ear. She shivered. Her body relaxed and melted into his. “For your body.”
The intensity of his desire shook his control. He disengaged and stepped back. “Are you ready for the service tonight?”
